Imagine

Imagine we're all connected. No, seriously.

Imagine we're all interconnected like every little blade of grass that seems to turn into a sea of green when you're on acid. Imagine those crazy hippies were onto something TRUE when they said that we're all one world.

Imagine Buckminster Fuller had it right when he made the World Game, and that we needed a new model for playing with one another that didn't involve competition or winning.

Imagine that Peter Russell was correct when he talked about 10 billion people forming into a super-organism, and that James Lovelock wasn't completely nuts when he suggested that the planet Earth and everyone on it is a total living system that he called "Gaia."

Imagine that we're all interconnected, and that a situation like this simply means that some of the people in this interconnected body of ours are hurting so bad that they don't know what to do but form a cancer.

Take the metaphor a little further, and start dishing out body parts. The United States of America is probably the head, because we have the money, the firepower, and the ability of leading the rest of the world - we sure act like we do, anyway, most of the time. So let's say for the sake of argument that:

  1. we're all interconnected
  2. all the people form one body
  3. and the United States is the head.
The head has just been warned of a serious breach in integrity somewhere in the body.

Who, may I ask, is the heart?

Will it be possible for us to become the heart?

Because it would surely be unfortunate in this particular case if the head made any decisions without the heart, don'tcha think?
